Denim jackets are about as American as it can get: they're each unique, classic, and tie an outfit together perfectly. Although the denim jacket has made recent appearances in many runway shows, including Alexander Wang, Valentino, and Tommy Hilfiger, it has been a statement trend since the early 1880s.
My denim jacket in particular comes from a very special place: my mother's closet. Her lovely, distressed, light wash Old Navy jean jacket has become one of my favorite pieces to throw over any outfit, casual or dressy. I love that the light color is a perfect contrast to dark jeans, and that the authentic fraying adds to my overall 80s appearance. I paired mine with these black distressed jeans, a vintage tee, and Adidas tennis shoes to keep it super casual.
Next time you raid the back of your mom's closet, maybe you'll find the perfect addition to your clothing collection!
